Whether the township is on track to make the 30 percent reduction by 2020 was a question the Environmental Advisory Committee was asked to consider. Organized by the Havertown Community Action Network, the Climate Promise Kids Rally aimed to thank commissioners for endorsing the plan, and to encourage continued efforts toward attaining its objectives, network member Jean Lutes said. The latter slogan referred to a Climate Change Action Plan commissioners approved in 2008, which set the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, primarily CO2, 30 percent by 2020. The artwork included urgent requests to “stop global warming,” “save the earth,” and “keep our climate promise.” HAVERFORD > About 75 community activists of all ages recently gathered on the front lawn of the township administration building, displaying colorful posters featuring pictures of the earth, polar bears and trees.
